A trailer for the newest installment of the Mortal Kombat series, titled Mortal Kombat X, has been released showcasing Raiden's Shaolin Monks.
GameSpot notes that these unfamiliar characters as Kung Jin, and a former Elder God named Shinnok. What we can deduce from this trailer is that the team behind these games, NetherRealm Studios, is definitely not trying to ease up on the violence, but rather amp it up.
Visually, it looks stunning, and the updated X-Ray moves look brutally fantastic. This trailer also sets up the story to be that Raiden’s past champions from Earthrealm have been brought back from the dead under control of the evil Shinnok, from a story aspect I think this opens up interesting paths in that Raiden will potentially be fighting against his previous allies.
Originally set to release April 14 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PC, Mortal Kombat X will not hit Xbox 360 or PS3 until later this summer.
