Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella sent a letter to all Microsoft employees stating that the company is beginning to start layoffs and will continue over the next few months.
Nadella's letter went in to minor detail stating "We are moving now to start reducing the first 13,000 positions," and that they will "go through the process in the most thoughtful and transparent way possible."
The "restructuring" by the company will likely start with its newly acquired Nokia division by eliminating 12,500 jobs up front while the company merges the two giants together. Job losses during mergers is far from unexpected as is the case during most acquisitions. Nadella plans to provide more information on July 22nd's earnings call.
Our thoughts go out to all of those who will be losing their jobs in the coming months.
