Borderlands 2 Prequel Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and PC (Officially)

A lot happens in two days as Borderlands: The Prequel has been officially announced and is set to release later this year.

Although rumored just two days ago, Gearbox is working with 2K Australia on humorously titled, The Prequel, which aims to put players on the moon Elpis and the Hyperion moon base where players will interact with later-to-become Handsome Jack; then called John.

Original story below.

Original Story (4/7/2014):

If rumors are to be believed, Borderlands 2 is getting a prequel game on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC later this year.

Originally revealed on GamePointsNow and later seen on IGN, the online publication stated they received leaked information with details of the game. It is rumored to take place on the moon of Elpis and Hyperion's moon base before Handsome Jack was a total jerk. Players will be able to select from four of Jack's lieutenants: Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, and Fragtrap or claptrap with weapons.

The prequel is rumored to have two new weapon types so far with Laser and Cryo types being added to the "bazillion guns" formula. Gearbox has also added Oxygen as a loot drop as Oxygen on the moon is collected in containers called OX-Kits meaning players will need to fight to breathe.

Nothing has been officially announced but these details sure do get me excited for anything Borderlands on top of the recently announced Borderlands 2 for the PS Vita. You can also read Dan's interview with Ashly Burch (Tiny Tina) who we're hoping is in the next installment.
