Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn Is a Thing

In all of my life, I never thought I would be writing this but here it is: a new Shaq Fu game is in development and it's called Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. Seriously.

I don't remember Shaq ever looking quite like this.

Developer Big Deez Productions is currently crowdsourcing on Indiegogo to get the game completed and are asking for a total of $450,000. As of the time of this news, they currently have $17,326 after just starting this morning. The campaign runs until April 20th, 2014 and they have a few perks based on donation amount. Perks include $15 netting you a game to the big prize of an evening at TNT Studio with Shaq watching a taping of NBA on TNT and lunch with the big guy for $35,000. So if you have $35K lying around, go have lunch with Shaq. Go check out all of the perks now to see if you want to donate and for how much if that's your thing.

Originally released on SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, and Game Boy in 1994, Shaq Fu is often remembered less fondly as a great game and more of a "so bad it's good" kind of a way. The developers want support as they claim, "This time we won't FU it up!" while guaranteeing backers that is isn't the "abomination that was born in the nineties."

To add good will to the project, Shaq and staff are giving 5% of all profits from the game directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America; an organization Shaq has been donating to for years.

So this is a thing people. Or at least it's trying to be. What do you think?
