Xbox One Patch Adding 5.1 Dolby Digital For Optical Out

For the past three months, users who have preferred the use of their optical out for audio have been limited to two-cannel stereo. This month, Microsoft's massive fix-it patch will relieve the issue adding 5.1 Dolby Digital audio and just in time for Titanfall.

It's good to see Microsoft addressing something that had so many gamers perplexed as this feature has been allowed in all consoles since optical outputs were a thing. Having this ability allows gamers with headsets that need connection through optical use the full potential of their Astro's, Turtle Beach's, and other high end headwear.

Microsoft is going to be busy over the next couple of weeks with this update, their new dashboard, and Twitch integration all scheduled before Titanfall drops on March 11th. Check out our events calendar to add it and other games to your smart device.
