Sony Rewards isn't a new program by any means, but Sony has officially announced that PSN purchases now go towards the rewards benefits.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony detailed that for every dollar spent, customers receive 1 point. The points can be redeemed for free digital downloads, TV's, movies, games, and other Sony swag. For instance, 5,999 points can net you a free copy of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Sony knows that earning almost 6,000 points to get a free game equals to $6,000 in spending so to help the consumer gewt started, players can sign up here and get 100 free points. Extremely loyal customers who have a Sony PlayStation Credit card earn 10x the points for PSN store purchases, 3x the points on all PS and Sony store purchases, 3x the points for movie theater spending, and 1 point for ever dollar spent anywhere else.
Upon completing sign-up and linking a PSN account, users begin earning points immediately. Those who spend a ridiculous amount of money with Sony should be happy.
