Shuhei Yoshida and Sony have unveiled more information on the PlayStation Blog and the Tokyo Game Show about their new iOS and Android app, slated to release simultaneously with the PS4 on November 15th.
Users will be able to access a wide array of functionality allowing users to continue their connection to the PlayStation infrastructure on the go. Those who use the app have access to their friends list, messaging, watch pre-recorded or live video, compare trophies, and access the store to begin download of a game no matter where they're at. This is an especially interesting feature as this enables members to have games ready when they get home. Considering that games like Killzone: Shadow Fall is around a 50 GB download, features like this and playing while downloading will be extremely helpful in an era where digital downloads will grow in popularity.
“A friend on PS4 can also send out an invitation for a multiplayer game, which you can then check on the App," says Yoshida, "and you can also purchase PS4 games from PlayStation Store. Your game will immediately start downloading while you’re away.”
Only 6 weeks until the release of the app and the PS4. The excitement continues.
